Bates & Coleman, PC (“Bates and Coleman” or the “Firm”) is a professional
corporation that was established on October 30, 1981, by Willie H. Coleman, Jr.
and William “Randy” Bates, Jr. These two lawyers quickly established a culture
of integrity, professionalism and service that has continued for 30 years.
The firm began as a General Practice law firm and expanded its practice to
include the area of Municipal Finance in 2002. Since that time, the firm has
evolved into a boutique Public Finance Firm.
Our lawyers are involved in all aspects of public offerings of securities by state
and local governments, not-for-profits, and by other public and quasi-public
institutions. In addition to serving as co-bond counsel for a number of issuers, the
firm represents underwriters. The firm’s public finance clients include cities,
counties, state agencies (including institutions of higher education, regional
mobility authorities and other transit authorities, municipal utility districts,
independent school districts, charter schools, hospital districts, river authorities,
and water control and improvement districts.
